LIMBANG: Gabungan Parti Sarawak’s (GPS) election machinery in Limbang is all set for the upcoming 15th General Election (GE15).

Deputy Minister for Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development, Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail disclosed that they had been ready for some time now, and only waiting for the Election Commission (EC) to set the dates for candidate nomination and polling day.

“We set up the election machinery during the 12th Sarawak Election (PRN) and we will be reactivating it for GE15.

“Similar to the success that we achieved in last year’s PRN, we are confident that this election machinery will work hard and defend the Limbang parliamentary seat, which is one of the 31 seats for Sarawak.”

He said this after attending the Majlis Pemimpin Bersama Rakyat Penyerahan Cek Projek Kecil Luar Bandar (Minor Rural Project cheque handover) for the Bukit Kota constituency at Dewan Kampung Bunga Raya here on Tuesday (Oct 11).

When asked on his hopes for young voters, Abdul Rahman said he was confident that voters aged 18 and above would be able to think maturely when it comes to choosing capable leaders for Sarawak and Malaysia.

“I am confident that the youths will back us (GPS). In fact, we have been engaging with the youths all this while, even before Undi18 was implemented.

“We organised various programmes aimed at youth development, especially in the Bukit Kota constituency, that had been well received.”
On the MRP grants, he expressed hope that the recipients would utilise the money well, by carrying out activities beneficial to all.

He handed over MRP cheques amounting to RM450,000 to 62 village development and security committees (JKKK), 20 primary schools’ Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) and four secondary schools’ PTA.

The JKKKs received RM310,000 while the primary schools’ PTA and the secondary schools’ PTA were given RM100,000 and RM40,000 respectively.
