SARAWAK under the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) led by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has managed to increase the state’s revenue.
Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian said the state has not gone bankrupt in three years as previously claimed by certain parties, but instead has grown its revenue from RM5.8 billion in 2018 to an estimated RM12.7 billion next year.
“In fact, this is just the beginning of the exponential growth in Sarawak revenue,” he said.
Dr Sim, who is also the Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government said this when delivering his ministerial winding-up speech during the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting on Tuesday.
He added that the people of Sarawak also felt proud to be Sarawakian in Malaysia, with the rest of Malaysia looking up to Sarawak as a shining example of what Malaysia is supposed to be, being the baton of hope and the model for the rest of Malaysia to aspire and replicate.
“Unfortunately, I have yet to hear whether Democratic Action Party (DAP) Sarawak is proud of Sarawak or not? DAP Sarawak is still employing the same old tactics of playing to the public gallery and ‘tembak saja’ with baseless and false accusations.
“Perhaps it is time for the Privilege Committee of this august House to look at the abuse and malicious nature of members for Padungan and Pending,” he said.
He also said perhaps these assemblypersons should learn from their younger colleague MP for Bandar Kuching to redeem their credibility.
Dr Sim urged fellow Sarawakians and assemblyperson to come together to support the Premier’s call for greater development funding allocation from the federal government, accelerate meaningful implementation of health autonomy, education autonomy, greater share of financial taxation from Sarawak under Article 112D, one third MP from Sabah and Sarawak and all the outstanding issues listed under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) and Inter-Governmental Committee (IGC) Report.
