KUCHING: The Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government is committed in implementing various programmes to meet the aspirations and needs of the people.
In his speech, Repok assemblyman Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii emphasised that the state government under the leadership of Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg placed great emphasis on the development of high quality human capital as well as continuing to develop Sarikei with various high impact projects.
“These projects include the Sungai Pasi Bridge which is a new route to Tanjung Manis. I would like to take this opportunity to reiterate my highest appreciation to Abang Johari.
“Therefore, we must be grateful for the presence of our chief minister and continue to support the GPS government for progress and prosperity of the state in the future,” he said.
Huang said this when officiating at the Lions Club International Rural Service Project at Rumah Mawas in Bayong, Sarikei on Saturday (Nov 28).
On the programme, Huang said its content which covered various segments including human capital, volunteerism and social responsibility, was in line with the current trends and needs of the community.
“Although the programme is implemented on a small scale, I believe that we are bringing in a new wave of strategies to develop the community, especially in this area,” he added.
Huang pointed out that the programme was beneficial to the people through the donations of hand sanitisers and food items amongst others for underprivileged families in the area.
“Even through the drawing competitions, we can explore the talents of the young people.
“I hope this kind of programme will continue to be implemented because it is one of the most suitable programmes to reach out to the people.
“At the same time, the organisers can also strengthen our relationship with each other and reinforce our trust in the state government,” added Huang.
