KUCHING: The Democratic Action Party (DAP) was the one who had worked with United Malay National Organisation (UMNO) to form the Perak state government in 2020.
This was the reminder given by Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) chief whip Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof to DAP who had propagated the sentiment that a vote for GPS meant a vote for UMNO.
“The opposition has been known for twisting facts and is always inculcating unhealthy sentiments. GPS is fighting on its own to protect and fight for the people of Sarawak.
“After the election, we will decide on who we will work with – the government that can provide stability to the nation as well as fulfilling the demands of Sarawak,” he said.
He said this when speaking to reporters after a Sembang Petang session with youth of Petra Jaya at an eatery at Jalan Haji Taha here yesterday.
Fadillah who is Petra Jaya incumbent and caretaker Senior Works Minister said the opposition’s words should not be taken seriously as GPS will decide its own destiny.
He said with the coalition, Sarawak is on the right track to be a developed state which is also renowned worldwide.
“Sarawak as a state can help Malaysia to be the wealthiest and most developed nation in the Asian region,” he said.
Meanwhile, on the progress of his campaign, Fadillah who is Petra Jaya GPS candidate said the constituency is unique politically as it has the presence of formidable state assemblymen.
“We work not only during election times. Since the last Sarawak state election, we are always on the field and meeting the people. This is to get feedbacks from the ground and resolve their problems.”
