KUCHING: Political analyst Lee Kuok Tiung applauded the Gabungan Parti Sarawak’s (GPS) manifesto for the Jepak state by-election.
He praised the14-thrust manifesto as a well-rounded plan for the development of Sarawak, noting that it serves as a comprehensive roadmap for Sarawak’s future.
He stressed that GPS’ manifesto represents a continuation of the region’s ongoing development efforts.
“The manifesto is a continuation of what is already there. It is a translation of the GPS blueprint to develop Sarawak, covering all aspects, including infrastructure development, socio-economic growth, human capital and education,” he said when contacted.
Lee highlighted the manifesto’s potential to sway voters, describing it as “far more convincing” than what GPS’ opponents have offered.
However, he cautioned against overconfidence by GPS, stressing the importance of a diligent and meticulous campaign, recognising the potential for elements of sabotage in any election.
“Likewise, GPS should not be overconfident but rather try hard in the election campaign.
“In every election one should be careful of possible elements of sabotage,” he added.
Yesterday (Oct 29), GPS made a significant stride in its campaign for the by-election by unveiling an expansive manifesto, which encompasses a range of infrastructure and socioeconomic development initiatives aimed at benefiting the local population.
Among the highlights are commitments to address the housing needs of the local community, including plans for affordable housing, an increased number of resettlement and village expansion schemes, and assistance for the renovation and construction of longhouses.
In addition to housing initiatives, the manifesto incorporates substantial infrastructure improvements designed to uplift the region’s economic prospects.
