BINTULU: The Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) is in the final stages of finalising its manifesto for the Jepak by-election.
GPS Election director Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said the manifesto would primarily focus on the development of the Jepak state constituency and is expected to be completed soon.
He said one significant aspect of the manifesto would be the inclusion of the Jepak Jaya Development Master Plan, which aims to transform the Jepak area into an area comparable to Petra Jaya in Kuching.
Awang Tengah, who is also the Deputy Premier and Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) deputy president, said that GPS is committed to continuing the efforts of the late Datuk Talib Zulpilip, the former Jepak assemblyman who made significant contributions to the development of the constituency.
Hence, he emphasised that GPS would ensure the victory of its candidate for the Jepak by-election, Iskandar Turkee, to carry on the legacy of the late Talib.
“There are ongoing development initiatives, and some have already been implemented. What is crucial is that these efforts are directed towards the future of the Jepak area.
“We also know that the construction of the bridge connecting the urban area to Jepak is currently underway, with full funding provided by the Sarawak government,” he said after visiting the PBB Jepak branch main operations centre at a prominent hotel here today (Oct 22).
Prior to the visit, Awang Tengah accompanied Iskandar to a casual programme at Laman Selera, Kampung Warisan Jepak, and a Perfection of Prayer Workshop at Surau Al-Muhajirin, Kampung Warisan Jepak.
