KUCHING: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) greenhorn Rodiyah Sapiee won the Batang Sadong parliamentary seat with a majority of 14,893 votes.
She garnered a total of 18,668 votes defeating her opponent, Pakatan Harapan (PH) Cikgu Lahaji with 3,775 votes.
Earlier, Datuk Hanifah Taib was announced as the first GPS woman candidate to secure a seat for the coalition.
She garnered a total of 21,733 votes and won with a majority of 15,686 against her opponent, Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) Abdul Jalil Bujang.
Hanifah retained her Mukah parliamentary seat for a second term.
Abdul Jalil managed to garner 6,047 votes.
Meanwhile, Datuk Rubiah Wang also retained her Kota Samarahan parliamentary seat for a third term.
She garnered a total of 42,278 votes winning a majority of 24,445 votes against PH Abang Halil.
Abang Halil managed to garner 12,833 votes.
