GPS pledges full support to Muhyiddin as PM

KUCHING: The Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) has pledged its full support to Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin in leading the country.

Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg who is also GPS chairman applauded Muhyiddin on his efforts to stabilise the country despite the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

Abang Johari pointed out that political stability was crucial for the country’s development especially in attracting investors.

He was speaking at a ‘Majlis Perjumpaan Khas Perdana Menteri Malaysia Bersama Penjawat Awam Negeri dan Persekutuan di Sarawak’ at the Waterfront Hotel here today.

“I would like to thank and express my appreciation to our Prime Minister for taking time despite his busy schedule to come to Bumi Kenyalang. We Sarawakians are proud that our Prime Minister sees Sarawak as his second home.

“We need good political stability for the future and development as this will attract investors to our state and country. This is why GPS fully supports Muhiyiddin as our Prime Minister because he has stabilised our country,” he said.

Abang Johari also expressed confidence in the ability of the country to overcome challenges under the Prime Minister’s stewardship.

He noted that Muhyiddin had successfully steered and tackled the Covid-19 pandemic.

“We can see that our Prime Minister has implemented several new policies and assistance to ease the people’s burden and of course Sarawak also receives those assistances as well.

“For that, I would like to thank our Prime Minister very much for his concern for Sarawak,” he said.

Also present were Deputy Chief Ministers Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr James Jemut Masing, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan and Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas; Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali; State Secretary Datuk Amar Jaul Samion; state Cabinet ministers and other dignitaries.
