KUCHING: The Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government is firmly defending the state’s rights and interests within the Malaysia Agreement framework, ensuring Sarawakians are not taken advantage of and that their rightful entitlements are restored, said Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap.
Yap likened the government’s actions to Tang Soo Do, a self-defense martial art that emphasises discipline and protection, not aggression.
“It teaches us that martial arts are not for bullying, but for safeguarding ourselves when attacked.
“Similarly, the GPS government is ensuring Sarawakians are not bullied and that what rightfully belongs to us is returned,” he said in his speech during the 5th Sarawak Tang Soo Do Championship at Sarawak Youth and Sports Complex here today (July 6).
Sarawakians, he said, should embrace our diverse ethnicities, religions and beliefs.
“When this happens, people will be proud to identify as ‘anak Sarawak’ (children of Sarawak), not just by race, religion or background. This ‘Unity in Diversity’ is essential for Sarawak to achieve developed status by 2030, with all Sarawakians sharing the economic prosperity,” he added.
