KUCHING: Roy Angau Gingkoi, the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) candidate for Lubok Antu, just can’t wait to serve the people and hopes to bring changes to the constituency if he wins in the 15th general election (GE15).
The Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) man is among the 14 new faces fielded by GPS and he thanked the GPS leadership for its trust in him to wrest back Lubok Antu.
“GE15 is my first election and I thank GPS and the leadership for putting their trust in me.
“I will be focusing on going to the ground to meet the people, and tell what GPS has to offer for them,” he said after receiving the watikah (writ) at the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) headquarters, here today.
He said, if he is elected, he will focus on issues faced by the people, especially on development and education.
“There are a lot of changes I want to bring to the area, but I cannot do this alone.
“So we have to be on the ground, meet with the grassroots, listen to them and work together with other component parties to bring the changes. Right now, I am focusing on winning the election,” he said.
Lubok Antu is expected to see a four-way battle Perikatan Nasional (PN), Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) joining the fray.
Jugah Muyang will be contesting under the PN ticket, PH is fielding Langga Lias, and PSB will field Johnical Rayong Ngipa.
In the previous general election, Jugah won as an Independent with 5,843 votes, beating Barisan Nasional’s Robert Pasang Alam by a majority of 4,775 votes.
