KUCHING: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) will not be involved in any state election campaigns taking place in six states in Peninsular Malaysia.

The party’s Chief Whip, Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, said that GPS is committed to focusing solely on matters concerning the interests of the people in Sarawak.

“Our priority is to fight for the interests of Sarawak and, at the same time, support the formation of a stable government at the federal level. This has been our principle for some time now,” Fadillah told reporters during the My Kasih Love My Neighborhood Council event at Dewan Malaysia Jaya, Petra Jaya today (June 24).

Fadillah clarified that while cabinet ministers, including deputy ministers in the Unity Government, may visit the location of the state election (PRN), their involvement will be limited to activities related to their ministries.

He also said that any GPS ministers participating in the elections are not campaigning but rather explaining the government’s policies at the ministry level, which contributed to the formation of the unity government.

During the ceremony, 500 B40 families received RM200 in assistance through the use of MyKad chip technology. The recipients included 200 individuals from the Tupong constituency, 150 from the Samariang constituency, 100 from the Satok constituency, and 50 from the Petra Jaya parliamentary constituency.
