KUCHING: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) has shifted into high gear with the launching of its youth machinery to drum up support for the coalition ahead of the 15th general election.
Over 2,000 enthusiastic GPS supporters from the grassroots level, election machinery and youth gathered at Stadium Perpaduan for uts launching on Today (Oct 29).
Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Youth deputy chief Lukanisman Awang Sauni said the GPS election machinery will be doing its part to secure a big win in GE15.
He pointed out that it is crucial for GPS to win big as it will allow the formation of a strong and stable federal government.
“The Youth wing of the GPS component parties namely PBB, Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP), Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) and Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) from every corner of Sarawak have gathered to listen to the address by PBB Youth Chief Miro Simuh and most importantly, Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg’s mandate.
“The date Nov 5 is fast approaching, and they (the Youth wings) have important roles to play in ensuring that GPS will win big in the GE15,” he said this in his welcoming address during the launching of the GPS Youth machinery.
Highlighting how there are approximately 700,000 voters aged 18 to 28 in Sarawak, the Sibuti incumbent MP said the machinery must approach as many youths as possible.
“This composition is about 45 per cent of the total number of voters, I am sure the machinery will not only focus on approaching the youth but people of all ages,” he said.
He also said the machinery is present at all 82 state constituencies and 31 parliamentary constituencies from Lundu, Saratok, Puncak Borneo up to Lawas.
“They are all ready with their GPS shirts, hats, and flags. It is their mission to approach the people and promote GPS,” he added.
