BINTULU: Deputy Minister for Food Industry, Commodities and Regional Development Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail is confident that the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) will retain Jepak in the by-election on November 4.
He said this confidence stemmed from the candidate’s experience and leadership in the public sector, as well as GPS’ unique campaigning approach to persuade voters in the Jepak constituency.
“I am confident that the GPS candidate, Iskandar Turkee is an individual whom the community here can rely on to continue the legacy of the former assemblyman, the late Datuk Talib Zulpilip.
“The Sarawak government does not just talk, but we walk the talk. The proof is evident with the rapid development we see throughout Sarawak. Therefore, choose wisely,” he said during a work visit to the PERYATIM Bintulu Complex here on Wednesday.
Moreover, he believed that the voters in Jepak are mature and capable of making the right choice for the continued development that is currently underway in the area.
Hence, he urged the public to show their support for Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) by casting their ballots for the coalition’s candidate on polling day on November 4.
Meanwhile, Dr Abdul Rahman also advised voters not to be complacent and overly confident as it could result in low voter turnout.
“I fear that if we are too confident of winning, it may cause people to not come out and vote.
“Every vote is crucial because we want a significant victory,” he added.
The Jepak by-election is a three-cornered fight involving GPS, Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) and Parti Aspirasi Rakyat Sarawak (ASPIRASI).
