Grab low fares for Firefly’s new routes

KUCHING: Firefly is set to reinstate its jet operations from its Penang hub to three routes, namely Kuching, Kota Kinabalu and Johor starting April 11.

From today onwards, customers can grab fares as low as RM69 one way using Boeing 737-800 aircraft on these new routes.

Firefly chief executive officer Philip See said the airline would start with two daily return flights from Penang to Johor Bahru and a single daily return flight from Penang to Kuching and Kota Kinabalu respectively.

“This will increase up to three times daily return flights from Penang to Johor Bahru and two times daily return flights from Penang to Kuching and Kota Kinabalu respectively from April 25,” he told the media here yesterday (March 4).

He said the airline’s inaugural flight started with Penang to Johor Bahru in May last year; however, the operation was temporarily suspended due to the movement control order.

“Now, we are happy to announce that our jet will operate again this year from Penang to Johor Bahru, Kota Kinabalu and Kuching,” he said, adding that the airline would consider expanding its routes to several parts of Sarawak, including Miri and Sibu in the future.

“We hope to expand the frequency more once the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) okays more flights to the state,” he said.

On the jet services, he said it offered a value service concept that entailed product unbundling coupled with convenience.

“Guests will have the flexibility and convenience to add other privileges such as seat selection, insurance coverage, in-flight hot meals, seat selection as well as the opportunity to accrue and redeem Enrich points,” he said.

In addition, Firefly has also launched its new value bundle to complement the new service and for customers’ convenience.

“Customers can save more than 50 per cent of its various value bundles offered from Plus, Extra or Flex and enjoy its features such as 20kg baggage allowance, in-flight hot meals, two-time flight changes, priority baggage, boarding and check-in and travel insurance,” he said.

Meanwhile, tickets are available for sale through the Firefly mobile app, website, booking offices and travel agents.
