KUCHING: An elderly woman was arrested on suspicion of operating illegal lottery sales in a premises at Batu Kawah New Township on Saturday.
Padawan police chief Supt Aidil Bolhassan said a CID team raided the premises that was suspected to be used in illegal gambling activities.
During the 6pm raid, the team spotted a 63-year-old woman sitting behind a table.
“Police immediately carried out inspections and found a smartphone, RM196 cash, and a piece of paper written with numbers.
“The seized items along with the woman were taken to the police for further action,” he said.
Aidil noted that the woman was remanded to facilitate investigations under Section 4A (a) of the Common Gaming House Act 1953.
