KUCHING: A recipient of the Sarawak government’s Minor Rural Project (MRP) and the Rehabilitation of Poor House in Sarawak (PPRMS) programme, Chong Khoon Boo finally had repairs on the badly damaged roof of his house at Kampung Semeba near here completed.
Yesterday he received a visit from the Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap who had assisted him to obtain the RM15,000 grant for the repair works which were carried out on a gotong royong basis by the village community.
The roof of Chong’s house at Lrg 7, Jalan Semeba was badly damaged by a falling tree during a storm recently and he had approached Yap through Penghulu Lai and Kapitan Lee seeking assistance to repair the badly damaged roof of his kitchen as he had no financial ability to repair it.
Immediately after been informed of the problem faced by Chong, Yap, Lai and Lee had visited the house to inspect the badly damaged roof together with the detailed report of the roof.
During his visit, Yap went through the final inspection of the completed project which started on Feb 11 this year and completed on Feb 18.
“I will continue to assist the hardcore poor facing difficulties in repairing their house provided that they always comply with the terms and condition requested by the Sarawak government for the programe,” Yap said.
