Yesterday during a courtesy call on Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here the JKKK, led by chairman Tan Kok Chiang was given RM50,000 with which to carry out its activities.
“The chief minister insists that we should help the local community under our jurisdiction to address social issues, safety issues, education and whatever is needed by the locals,” Tan said.
“We have actually started working in Satok area, holding gotong royong to fight dengue, checking the sign boards, road and drainage conditions, working with the police to patrol around the neighbourhood,” he added.
According to Tan, the JKKK operates from Nanas Road to Rubber Road, and including the commercial areas in Satok.
