Grocery shop worker detained for misconduct

MIRI: Police have detained a worker of a grocery shop in Permyjaya in connection with a missing RM33,000. The cash which belonged to the shop was detected missing in stages during a cash flow statement check conducted on Aug 17 by the shop’s accountant.

When the account did not tally, the accountant immediately alerted the shop’s manager who lodged a police report that led to the suspect’s arrest. A source said that based on the cash flow statement, the money started missing sometime in January this year.

The alleged misconduct went on until Aug 16. The suspect is being detained under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property.
