SIBU: Grolite Group will hold its fourth blood donation drive cum first Gobald 2024 on Aug 18 (Sunday) at its premises (near Star Mega Mall) here, from 9am to 2pm.

Director of Grolite Group, Sandra Song, said the blood donation drive is undertaken as part of the company’s commitment to corporate social responsibility.

It is also in alignment with its theme of “Celebrating 20 years of giving, thank you blood donors” for World Blood Day 2024.

“At the recent World Donor Day celebration hosted by Sibu Red Crescent Society, we are delighted to share that Grolite emerged as the second-place winner in the Blood Donation Competition 2023 within the private sector category.

“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the public for their unwavering support, which has been instrumental in our success.

“For this upcoming blood donation drive, the main objective is to maintain safe and sufficient blood supply for the Sibu Blood Bank.

“Collaborating closely with the Sibu Blood Bank, we have implemented necessary improvements to ensure a smooth and seamless process for our donors,” she told a press conference here Tuesday (July 9).

Song also the organising chairperson, encouraged donors to register their interest as per barcode in the poster, and to download the form “Borang Pendaftaran Penderma Darah” and fill out in advance to start swift progression through the donation process.

She said the event is open to all who would like to donate blood provided they meet the basic eligibility requirements.

“Remember to bring your identity and donor card (if available) to facilitate the donation process.  Upon completion of the donation process, donors are invited to relax and indulge in exclusive refreshments courtesy of Coffee Code.

“The Coffee Code is a Borneo-based coffee house founded since year 2014 with footprints across whole Sarawak and even in Singapore. Currently they have seven coffee outlets.

“All successful donors will receive goodie bags and Shell fuel vouchers redeemable at Grolite Ling Kai Cheng,” she stated.

On the same day, Song said Grolite will host the first-ever GoBald 2024 in Sibu with Sarawak Children’s Cancer Society (SCCS).

This initiative aims to provide care and relief for children and families in Sarawak battling childhood cancer.

She revealed that this event is targeted to raise RM20,000 to support SCCS services and provide essential medical equipment for childhood cancer patients at Sibu Hospital.

“Join the GoBald event to show your support by shaving your hair plus contribution, or purely on contribution through online donations via Satellite EV with Grolite’s Match Funding mechanism of 1:1 ratio.

“Grolite is committed to doubling the impact of your donations by engaging in match funding through the online satellite event at a 1:1 ratio. Every donation will be matched, amplifying the positive impact of each donor’s contribution in supporting for childhood cancer patients.

“We believe this is the structured way to support good work in communities. With such, we can double the impact of fund donor’s contribution with just a tiny amount of effort.

“In the spirit of community engagement and wellness, we are excited to extend an invitation to all, regardless of blood donation eligibility, to join us at the upcoming event,” she said.

On top of that, Grolite has collaborated with PMG in providing complimentary health screening to public, Song said, adding PMG, founded in Sarikei in 2012, is one of the largest local primary healthcare companies with more than 90 entities across Malaysia.

According to her, a complimentary health screening will be provided by PMG, including tests for blood glucose, blood pressure, body mass index, and bone density.

Expert consultations will be available post-screening for those in need.
