KUCHING: The development agenda under the leadership of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) has been carefully outlined, said Datuk Julaihi Narawi.
The Sebuyau assemblyman who is also the Minister of Utilities and Telecommunications, said it showed that GPS already has a direction it wanted to attain.
As such, he said, this is to ensure that all 31 Sarawak parliamentary seats are won by GPS candidates, including Puteri Santubong (Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri) in this 15th general election (GE15).
“We want the candidates to win with a comfortable majority so that they can be a voice for the people of Sarawak at the federal level.
“Through this victory, we can also claim more of Sarawak’s rights that have been eroded as enshrined in the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63),” he said.
He said this when officiating at the launching ceremony of the Sarawak Alternative Water Supply Project (SAWAS) in Kampung Metang Terap, Lundu, today.
He added that strong support from the local community was essential in ensuring the success of GPS could be achieved, thus continuing the envisaged development agenda.
“For the sake of fighting for the rights of the state and the people of Sarawak, we need to work together so that GPS candidates are elected at the parliament level later.
“Therefore, carry out your respective responsibilities on November 19 and ensure that all 31 seats are won by GPS candidates in style,” he said.
In the meantime, Nancy, who is the incumbent of Batang Sadong parliamentary seat, has been entrusted to contest in Santubong in place of incumbent, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar.
A new face Rodiyah Sapiee is contesting in Batang Sadong to continue the struggle that Nancy had previously led.
