KUCHING: Inspiring Barisan Nasional candidate for Mukah seat, Dato Hanifah Hajar Taib, 46, if elected pledges to do her best for the people in the area she represented.
“If elected, the most important thing is to do something for the constituency that I represent and that will be my main focus. I will also focus on building a good working relationship with the three assemblypersons in the area namely Dalat Assemblywoman, Dato Sri Hajah Fatimah Abdullah, Tellian Assemblyman, Yussibnosh Balo and Balingian Assemblyman, Dr Abdul Yakub Bin Arbi,” she said when interviewed after receiving her letter to contest as a Barisan Nasional candidate for Mukah in the 14th General Election from Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg who is also chairman of Sarawak Barisan Nasional at PBB headquarters here, yesterday.
According to Hanifah, as the daughter of the Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud, the pressure is there.
“Definitely, the pressure is there. But this is the first time I am entering politics and it doesn’t mean that I know everything.
“I hope everyone will be patient and provide guidance to me to learn to understand the aspects of leadership and how we could become good leaders, God’s willing. I am willing to carry out my duty,” she said.
Hanifah is the youngest daughter of Sarawak’s Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Haji Abdul Taib Mahmud. She graduated with a degree in Bachelor of Science, Business Administration from University of San Francisco, California, USA in 1992.
She is also chairman of Pertubuhan Kebajikan Islam Malaysia (PERKIM) Sarawak.
