MUKAH: Preparations to upgrade Padang Mesra in the Dalat and Mukah District Council (MDDM) for the Men’s Football Competition for the 21st Malaysian Games (SUKMA) are on schedule.

The Manager of the 21st SUKMA Men’s Football Competition who is also the president of the Mukah Football Association (MuFA) assistant superintendent (ASP) Khairul Anuar Adeni said previously, the association experienced some problems in terms of allocation.

“However, with the allocation and assistance given by Mukah Member of Parliament Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib, of course it can help improve the progress of upgrading this field.

“I am grateful that she is concerned and looking for a solution to help our side, especially in terms of preparing for this competition later,” he said.

He relayed this when met by reporters after receiving a MuFA activity grant from Mukah Member of Parliament Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib, at Padang Mesra MDDM yesterday.

He explained that the allocation was used to upgrade the pavilion, lights, wiring, walls and other facilities for the audience, secretariat and invited guests who come to watch the match later.

“We are trying our best because this will give a good image to outsiders, especially visitors from Peninsular Malaysia and Sabah.

“If our image is maintained, of course it shows that Mukah is ready to welcome visitors from outside during SUKMA later,” he explained.

Accordingly, he hoped that the facilities at Padang Mesra MDDM would be able to attract more spectators and visitors during the event.

In the meantime, he expressed his appreciation to Hanifah for willing to visit and see it herself the shortcomings in the field.

Earlier, Hanifah submitted a MuFA activity grant amounting to RM50,000 for the implementation of activities and the upgrading of the MDDM field.
