KUCHING: Grocery store Happy Mart Kuching joined hands with Hope Place, a non-profit charity organisation, to spread the Chinese New Year (CNY) cheer to needy families here recently.
Together with Hope Place staff, four representatives from Happy Mart visited underprivileged families and handed out goodies worth more than RM3,000.
Among the items were oranges, cookies, soft drinks and ‘ang pow’ (red envelopes containing cash).
Each family received goodies worth about RM600.
“The families were overjoyed that they, too, were able to enjoy Chinese New Year goodies that they normally could not afford,” Hope Place said in a statement.
The goodies were handed over by Happy Mart owner Kenn Woon to Hope Place founder Kelvin Wan at Hope Place premises here.
