SIMANGGANG: Assistant Minister of Community Wellbeing and Simanggang assemblyman Datuk Francis Harden Hollis took time on Monday to visit a drainage upgrading project site at Taman Gamang, here.
The project which is expected to be completed on this April 14, is a under a contract worth RM300,000 awarded to DNAJ Enterprise through the allocation of rural transformation programme (RTP) for the Simanggang rep.
“The upgrading of the drainage is necessary as the area often experiences flash floods due to clogged drains and no perfect outlet to discharge large quantity of water at one time,” said Harden.
In his speech, he then reminded the main contractor to be more responsible in implementing the project according to the completion time set in the contract offer letter.
“If possible, do not drag employment problems that could cause the project’s failure in reaching its target as this project also involves implementing agencies.
As contractors, you must already have a recovery and contingency plans in the event of any disruption to the smooth construction,” he advised.
Contractors need to review the scope of works agreed in advance and think about the comfort of the residents so as not to bring negative implications that result in complaints from them (residents), he pointed out.
Also present were the representatives from the implementing agency, Department of Irrigation and Drainage, Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) Taman Gamang, Sri Aman and DNAJ Enterprise.
