BINTULU: Tanjong Batu assemblyman, Johnny Pang Leong Ming, has described the harmony and unity among diverse racial communities in this country, especially Sarawak, as one of the main factors in the success of organising sports events.
He emphasised that the atmosphere of harmony and cooperation between various races plays an important role in ensuring that every sporting event can be carried out smoothly and successfully.
Strong unity in the community not only guarantees a peaceful atmosphere but also facilitates cooperation between various parties in organising large events such as marathons, which involve participation from various walks of life.
“The main key to the prevailing peace is solid unity and cooperation among all parties. We should be grateful because the government that governs our country and state always strives to maintain peace and prioritise the interests and well-being of the people,” he said.
He said this when speaking at the second edition of the Bintulu Marathon 2024 prize-giving ceremony at the Bintulu Old Airport site, on Sunday.
Pang added that organising this marathon not only serves as a sporting event, but also as a platform to foster community spirit and appreciate the beauty of the environment. Hopefully this effort will continue and have a positive impact on the local community and its surroundings.
