BAU: First term Tasik Biru assemblyman Datuk Henry Harry Jinep said he is confident of retaining the seat for Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) in the 12th state election.
Harry, who is Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) vice-president, said with his continuous work in serving his constituents, he has been receiving increasing support from the people.
“I have been on the ground since I got elected and have continued going to the ground, visiting my people, bringing development projects like roads, community halls, water and electricity,” he said when met after attending a dialogue session with land owners at Kampung Tanjung Poting, Singai here on Tuesday.
However, Henry said he would leave it to the state leaders to decide on his candidacy.
“If the state leaders want me to defend the seat, then I will stand but if they have someone else better than me, then it is up to them,” he added.
In the last state election, Henry won the seat with 1, 288 majority votes, defeating DAP candidate Mordi Bimol.
Commenting on his RM5 million RTP and RM2 million MRP allocations, he said it was fairly distributed with every village receiving its share.
“Not even one village is left out,” he added, saying all the projects were implemented by the implementing agencies, namely the Public Works Department (JKR), Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID) and the local councils.
He also spoke on the need for housing projects for people, especially those in the B40 group and economic activities for the people to uplift their living standard.
“Land owners are encouraged to open up their land for agriculture and we get the relevant agencies like the Agriculture Department to assist them in giving advices and fertilizers for their crops,” he said.
