KUCHING: Harvey Norman is set to open up its first East Malaysia outlet at Vivacity Megamall here this November.

Taking up more than 40,000 square feet on Level 1 and 2 of the mall’s East Atrium, it will carry an extensive range of household trusted products.

In conjunction with this, a signing ceremony between Vivacity and Harvey Norman was held at the shopping mall yesterday with the presence of Minister of International Trade and E-Commerce, Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh.

“Vivacity Megamall is home to 300 retail brands from all over the world and has provided employment opportunities of over 3,000.

“With Harvey Norman opening its doors here, it will attract and bring in more people to the mall.

“This is a smart partnership between Vivacity and Harvey Norman,” said Wong, who is also Second Minister of Finance.

Vivacity Megamall executive director Sim Yaw Hang expressed his happiness with the mall being selected as the first place for the Australian brand to spread its wings to East Malaysia.

“It is a great honour for Vivacity to have a Harvey Norman outlet, which shall be the first in East Malaysia.

“We are pleased that they have chosen Vivacity and they will be the fourth major tenant here,” Sim said, adding that the mall has achieved 93 per cent occupancy and is expected to achieve 98 per cent by the end of the year.

Meanwhile, Harvey Norman Asia managing director Kenneth Aruldoss revealed that Harvey Norman has always wanted to open up an outlet in East Malaysia.

“At Harvey Norman, what we aim to do is to provide a comfortable and seamless experience and atmosphere for our customers.

“Not only will we provide that, but we will also make sure our staff members are knowledgeable and welcoming in order to help customers.

“I am positive that Harvey Norman will be successful here,” said Aruldoss.

Also present during the event were Vivacity Megamall director, Alan Sim Yaw Yen and Harvey Norman lead general manager, Eddy Ng.
