KUCHING: Samariang assemblywoman Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali and Tupong assemblyman Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman have welcomed the federal government’s decision to form a parliamentary select committee (PSC).
According to Hasidah, who is also the Assistant Minister of Law, State-Federal Relation and Project Monitoring, the establishment of PSC is timely and necessary.
“We (state government) welcome and are glad that the federal government has agreed to form a PSC to look into the implementation of the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).
“With the PSC establishment, the parliamentarians can deliberate and scrutinise the constitutions and present the best for Sarawak,” she said.
Meanwhile, Fazzrudin, who agreed with Hasidah, hoped that the representation of the PSC would reflect the spirit of MA63.
“The whole of Sarawak is looking forward to have our rights restored. The members of the committee, items to be discussed and the process in which each item is agreed upon, should also be spelt out clearly,” he added.
On Saturday, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Liew Vui Keong declared that a PSC on the implementation of the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) would be established.
