Self-claimed viral sex video actor nabbed at airport

KUCHING: Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz, who claimed he is one of the two actors of a viral sex video, has been arrested.

His lawyer, Ramesh Sivakumar, in confirming the arrest, said Haziq was in Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) when he was arrested.

He said his understanding was that Haziq had been brought to Bukit Aman.

“The police called me saying that Haziq was in KLIA, but when I arrived there around 7.20pm, they told me that Bukit Aman had taken him in,” Ramesh was quoted a national newspaper as saying.

Initially it was not clear why Haziq, who had been incommunicado, except for his video appearances, was at KLIA.

New Sarawak Tribune contacted the Director of Crime Investigation Department (CID) Datuk Huzir Mohamed and he said, “Haziq is trying to escape to another country.”

Huzir confirmed that Haziq will be detained for further investigation.

At the time of the call made to Huzir, his men were still at the airport to deal with the matter with Haziq’s lawyer.

Huzir also confirmed that Haziq was alone at the time of his arrest.

Huzir said they will detain and question Haziq and that he may be remanded to assist in their investigation.

Meanwhile in Kuching, Haziq’s 53-year-old father yesterday lodged a police report saying five men arriving in a police car had forced their way into their house late Thursday.

Abdul Aziz Ibrahim, who was with his daughter then, said he could only watch as the five men “forced their way through my house compound” at 5pm on Thursday.

He said they did not identify themselves but he assumed they were policemen because they came in a police patrol car.

Besides, one of the men wore a police vest, he added.

“They asked me questions about my son (Haziq). I felt nervous because they looked so serious.

“I lodged a police report because I worry for our safety. I dread to think there will be more such appearances of strangers at our door day or night,” he said.

Abdul Aziz lodged his report at the Kuching district police station at 1pm yesterday.

On Wednesday, Haziq posted a video on Facebook, admitting he was one of the men in a sex video which went viral the day before. He claimed Economic Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Azmin Ali as the other person in the video.

He claimed the sex act in the video happened on May 11.

“The video was taken without my permission on May 11 during the Sandakan by-election in (his) room at Hotel Four Points,” he said.

Haziq, who is the senior private secretary to Deputy Primary Industries and Commodities Minister Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin, said the minister was not fit to be a leader.

Azmin, however, denied that he was the person in the video clip, insisting, “I categorically deny this vicious libel upon me. This is nothing but a nefarious plot to assassinate my reputation and character in an attempt to destroy my political career.”

Hot on the heels of his denial, a second video clip, which appears to show the same pair from the earlier viral video, surfaced Wednesday night.
