KUCHING: Housing Development Corporation (HDC) is advising the public not to respond to any information about its affordable housing which has gone viral on social media.

The information posted on HDC’s website was merely for public reference and not for sharing for fear of misuse and to avoid scams and frauds, HDC said in a statement yesterday.

HDC public relations department said HDC officers had been bombarded with calls from the public following the dissemination of the information and forwarded messages through WhatsApp and Facebook. The corporation said it had never appointed any individual or third party to release information on its various housing schemes particularly on Facebook.

HDC apologised to the public who had been misled by the advertisement  and urged those interested in its properties to apply directly to HDC offices or contact HDC’s marketing officers by telephone at 082 443681 or 082 443741.
