BAU: The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) does not have any third party information distributor particularly on social media regarding houses offered to people in the state.
HDC chief executive officer Mohamed Asman Ahmad was referring to recent messages on Facebook and WhatsApp concerning applications for houses under the corporation’s affordable home programme (RMM).
According to him, all information pertaining to the programme can be found on the official HDC website.
“What is on social media is beyond our jurisdiction (HDC), but if the information is accurate, then it is positive for us,” he told the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS) at RMM project site located in Kampung Bungai Rampai here today.
“Therefore, we see this as a win-win situation. At the same time, I ask applicants interested in the RMM project development to come to our office to ask for further processing.”
He clarified that all Malaysians residing in Sarawak are eligible to apply for houses under the RMM programme as long as they are between 18 and 65 years old.
“The total income of the husband and wife should be RM3,000 and below for the low RMM type and RM1,500 and above for the medium RMM type,” he said.
On another matter, Mohamed said HDC is working to get 2,500 houses built under the 11th Malaysia Plan (11MP).
“So far, a total of 1,837 houses have already been developed in Kampung Anthology, (Bau), Kampung Datu Baru (Sibu), Beratok (Serian), Kemuyang (Sibu), Ranggau (Limbang) Igan and Tian Matu (Mukah),” he said.
“Other locations for similar projects are Kampung Tabuan Melayu and Kampung Tabuan Foochow in Kuching, Kampung Baru (Kapit), Lundu and Sematan.”
According to him, HDC also provides JomPAY to facilitate the repayments of housing loans.
