KUCHING: Residents of RPR Quadruplex in Bandar Baru Permyjaya, Miri, now have 25 brand new rolling rubbish bins.

The bins were presented by the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) at a handover ceremony last Friday, officiated by the HDC’s Miri Northern Regional Office supervisor, Josephine Nyalia Mengga.

HDC chief executive officer (CEO) Fathi Hambali, said that these large 1,100-litre bins will replace the old and damaged ones.

Fathi said that HDC frequently receives complaints about the older rubbish bins being damaged and in unsanitary conditions due to vandalism.

“Some of the rolling rubbish bins were also stolen by irresponsible individuals from the RPR compound.

“Thus, replacing the rubbish bins is essential to prevent waste spillage onto the roads, which could lead to unpleasant odours and have a negative impact on the environment,” he added.

He further reminded them to always ensure their respective areas are kept clean and free from rubbish.
