DEBAK: Two friends died after the motorcycle they were riding collided head-on with a four-wheel-drive (4WD) vehicle near Bangkit Ijok junction at Jalan Spaoh-Suri recently.
Betong District Police chief, DSP Fahdil Antum Abdullah said the accident which occurred at around 3.55pm involved a Yamaha motorcycle and Toyota Hilux.
“The Toyota Hilux which was coming from Spaoh was believed to have entered the opposite lane and collided head-on with the victims who were heading to Spaoh from Debak,” he said in a statement here.
He also said both victims died at the scene.
“One of the victims was identified as Yusri Abu Bakar, 27, from Kampung Supa. He died of severe head and bodily injuries. The other victim whose identity has yet to be determined died of severe head injuries.
“The 4WD driver, aged 56, did not sustain any injury,” he said.
Fahdil said the case was being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act, 1987.
Meanwhile, Saribas state assemblyman Mohd Razi Sitam was also at the scene after he was informed of the incident by residents in the area.
