KUCHING: There have been no strikes by doctors at any Ministry of Health facilities and hospitals, clinics or health centres are operating as usual, said Lukanisman Awang Sauni.

The Deputy Minister of Health said the actions of every civil servants including medical officers, are subject to the civil servant integrity and public service ethics.

“The Ministry of Health is rational and will give due consideration if there is a strike happening but so far, there has been no strike,” he said in a statement, yesterday (April 4).

He said Health Minister, Dr Zaliha Mustafa has issued a statement as the official spokesperson in response to the HartalDoktorKontrak secretariat and the response to the issue was also answered by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in Parliament yesterday.

“Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi will chair a High Level Committee on contract doctors as announced in Dr Zaliha’s statement which will involve several ministries and the Chief Secretary to the Government,” Lukanisman said.

Previously, the federal cabinet has agreed to establish a high-level committee to deal with the issue of contract doctors.

The committee will comprise several ministries and agencies including the Chief Secretary to the Government, Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali.
