SARIKEI: Rural communities are urged to prioritise their health due to the challenges of accessing healthcare facilities in remote areas.

Tanjong Manis MP Ir. Yusuf Abdul Wahab said that given the limited healthcare facilities, they should also ensure the environment is clean.

He said this in his speech when officiating the Health Screening Programme at the Adin Community Hall on Sunday.

The programme, attended by 300 locals, was a joint effort between the Tanjong Manis Service Centre and Lions Club Seduan, Sibu.

Free services included diabetes, blood pressure, pap smears, breast exams, along with vision, hearing, nose, and throat checks by specialists from Rejang Medical Centre and Sibu Hospital.

Yusuf also donated RM3,000 to Lions Club Seduan for future health initiatives and distributed food baskets to 50 local recipients.

Also present were Lions Club Seduan president Willie Ling, RMC CEO Dr. John Tang, club members, volunteers, and community leaders.
