MIRI: Those who attended the closing of the two-day ‘Program Kem Kesedaran Alam Sekitar’ (Kekas) at a leading hotel here yesterday underwent a health screening before entering the event premises.

Among those who were screened was Mayor Adam Yii.

The event was organised by Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd -Sarawak Oil (SK Oil) in conjunction with the Department of Environment Sarawak, Sarawak Forestry Corporation and Miri City Council (MCC).

On the health screening, Yii said, “It is a good move to screen potential suspected victims of Covid-19, especially when there is a large crowd.”

He pointed out for better prevention of the disease; isolation was the best solution.

“We need to identify and isolate Covid-19 victims to prevent the illness from spreading,” he added.

Yii also agreed that not shaking hands would also help to stop the spread of the virus.

“Instead, why not try a direct gaze or a hand gesture?” he said.
