KUCHING: The MyCHAMPION programme, a volunteer services initiative involving various ministries and agencies, aims to encourage a culture of healthy living and environmental preservation.
Kuching Divisional Health Officer Dr. Johnny Pangkas emphasised the importance of the MyCHAMPION volunteers.
“It is certain that MyChampion volunteers will play an important role in acting as health champions in the community of a society,” he said during the Opening Ceremony of the MyCHAMPION Kuching Carnival at the Youth and Sports Complex here yesterday (Nov 24).
The ceremony, attended by representatives from different departments and agencies in the Kuching Division, was an opportunity to align with the National Agenda of Healthy Malaysia.
“This is a very meaningful ceremony…for them to understand the objectives and aspirations of the National Agenda, which is the National Agenda of Healthy Malaysia,” he added.
The programme’s primary focus is on empowering the community to adopt healthy living practices and to be environmentally sustainable.
“MyChampion volunteers should have a role in educating, empowering and mobilising target groups such as family and community members in practicing a culture of healthy living and environmental sustainability,” he said.
