BAU: Heavy rains have slowed down culvert works at the Kampung Suba Bandar.

According to Tasik Biru assemblyman Datuk Henry Harry Jinep in his Facebook page, the Public Works Department (PWD) had to stop work due to heavy downpours at the site on Sept 27.

The department hoped to complete the project by the middle of next month if the weather permitted and works could be executed according to plans.

Recently, commuters had urged the relevant authorities to expedite the road repair works along Mile 2, Bau-Lundu Road.

A motorist, who requested anonymity, said the delay reflected poor work coordination on the part of the contractor concerned.

“Why is it taking so long just to complete a single reinforced concrete culvert? This is totally irresponsible — ignoring public safety and convenience,” he said.

Meanwhile, Henry said he would get in touch with the PWD director to see what was causing the delay and have it resolved soon.
