SIBU: Police here have finally found the valuable heirlooms lost for almost a month due to a burglary while a family in Sibu Jaya went for a vacation to Miri.
Sibu District Police Chief, ACP Zulkipli Suhaili in a statement yesterday said that a police report was lodged on Aug 13 around 10.16 pm by a local man, 59, saying that his house in Sibu Jaya was broken into by thieves.
“The items that were reported missing were a set of shotguns, 12 shotgun shells of various types and various home decorations of Pua Kumbu as well as traditional Iban clothing accessories with an estimated loss of RM2,000,” he said.
According to Zulkipli, around 11.35 am last Tuesday, a police team from the Sibu IPD Criminal Investigation Division successfully arrested a 30-year-old local man.
“The follow-up to the arrest has led to two more arrests of two local men between the ages of 45 to 54 acting as buyers of stolen goods.
“The police managed to find and seize all the items reported missing by the complainant,” he said.
Zulkipli stressed that the suspects were remanded for five days to assist in the investigation.
“Following the arrest, the police have successfully solved at least three burglary cases in Sibu Jaya.
“The case is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code,” he said.
