BINTULU: Help came but it was not enough to save Mohammad Badrun Amin Abdullah.

Medical personnel attending to the car’s driver after he was freed from the vehicle, but was later pronounced dead.

The 39-year-old was pinned in his seat in an accident at the junction of Bakun at 1.26am yesterday morning.

A team of eight firemen from Bintulu fire station was rushed to the accident site some 56km away and freed him from his wrecked car.

Medical personnel called to the scene failed to save Mohammad who was seriously injured and pronounced him dead. Meanwhile, Mohammad’s friend, who sustained minor injuries, was rushed to Bintulu Hospital.

According to Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu, the car that was driven by the deceased had suddenly veered off the road, entered into the opposite lane and crashed into a lorry.

Prior to the accident, the car was heading towards Bintulu from Miri.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
