ASAJAYA: The community needs to cooperate with enforcement authorities to prevent crime from happening.

This was pointed out by Asajaya assemblyman Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah when he officiated at  the Asajaya District Community Policing Programme at SMK Hajah Laila Taib hall today.

“This is because only the people know the ins and outs of their areas,” he said.

Abdul Karim pointed out that the villagers could not expect the police to take care of every village.

“If we want to ask the police  to have enough members to take care of each village, it is quite impossible.”

Abdul Karim added that leaders should  know the  needs of the people in their areas.

He also advised community leaders and village heads to be forward looking and to listen to their villagers’ complaints or suggestions for change.

Also present at the programme were Asajaya district officer Rais Ahmat, Samarahan district police chief DSP Sudirman Kram and  Temenggong Chek Bujang.
