KUCHING: The Association of Wives of Ministers and Assistant Ministers (Sabati) has urged local non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and the corporate sector to help improve public healthcare services in Sarawak.
Its president Datin Patinggi Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang said NGOs could donate new medical equipment to replace the old equipment.
“NGOs play an important role in healthcare. We must help to initiate plans and assistance to improve the environment,” she added during her visit to paediatric patients at the Sarawak General Hospital.
The chief minister’s wife also hoped NGOs would continue to help the government take care of the welfare of the public, especially the needy.
During the visit, Juma’ani also handed over 15 chemotherapy units to the hospital and presented cash aid to 30 patients in the Child Cancer Ward.
Asked if there was any plan to help improve healthcare services in the rural areas, she said Sabati was looking forward to collaborating with any NGO and corporation in future projects.
“Sabati has been working hard to improve public healthcare services not only here at the Sarawak General Hospital, but also in Miri, Mukah, Bintulu and Sibu.
“We hope that NGOs and corporations will help us to provide funds to improve Sri Aman Hospital,” said Juma’ani.
