KUCHING: There are heroes among us; one is Sharon Bong, a cancer survivor and a GoBald fundraiser.
She chooses to use her story to spread hope as well as courage for kids battling cancer.
Bong herself was first diagnosed with breast cancer in January this year and she completed her treatment recently.
She underwent eight chemotherapy and 23 radiotherapy sessions.
As a mother of three herself, she said she wants to tell children with cancer to be brave and that they are not alone in this journey.
“I am inspired by the kindness and courage of the teachers at Yelaoshr Saradise for going bald.
“Although I am bald, I can still do my part to raise funds to help kids fighting cancer,” she said on a featured posting by GoBald.
Bong’s child is attending Yelaoshr Saradise, an education centre where the group of teachers there are going bald this September.
“The group aims to collectively raise a total of RM30,000 to support kids and families in their cancer-fighting journey,” she said.
For the record, registration for GoBald which is Sarawak Children’s Cancer Society annual fundraising campaign is closing on Sunday (July 17) at 5pm.
