MIRI: Non-governmental organisations (NGO) are urged to work closely and help the state government in bringing positive changes within longhouse community, said Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau.
“This must be our common goal if we love our longhouse and its occupants … I am proud to say that Long Atip Community Association Miri is a good example of how an association’s objectives can be practised to bring positive changes,” he added when officiating at the Long Atip Community Association Miri Family Day 2019 held recently in conjunction with the National Day celebration at Piasau Boat Club.
Ngau lauded the association’s effort in organising the programme as it helped gather the community throughout Miri.
He was impressed with the success and achievement obtained by the association’s young generation in their education.
Also present at the event were Long Atip village headmen Chieftain Wilson Anyie, Long Atip Community Association chairman Paren Lah, Event organising chairman Uyo Ngau, and Cr Jaraw Braim
At the function, Ngau also presented his Minor Rural Project (MRP) grant of RM12,000 to JKKK Long Atip and announced a RM10,000-allocation to BEM Long Atip and RM10,000 for the association to organise the Futsal and Badminton tournament on Sept 14-15.
