KUCHING: The Lusong Laku waterfall, a tourist gem hidden in interior Belaga, is a must visit place for locals and foreigners alike.
Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah has expressed his delight at the beauty of the waterfall, which he likened to the famous Niagara Falls in North America.
“I am extremely proud of Lusong Laku…you must visit this place,” enthused the Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts.
“But the problem is the distance. To get to the location from Sungai Asap, it takes about five hours of travel on forest road (used by timber lorries), then from Bintulu to Sungai Asap is two hours, a total of seven hours.”
He was speaking before flagging off the D’Drift 2022 at news portal DayakDaily’s office here on Monday (July 4).
He explained that more could be done for Lusong Laku when the ministry improved connectivity, especially to provide ease of travel to the area.
“Lusong Laku is one of Sarawak’s jewels. Through the D’Drift 2022, in some way, we can showcase more of Sarawak’s beauty because when journalists go into the interior, they will be writing about their experience, putting out a lot of photos and introducing the interior to the world.
“Their articles will not only be read by Sarawakians but also people from other parts of the world and those who love adventure will be looking to visit amazing places like this.”
