MIRI: Lions Club of Batu Niah ‘Mid-Autumn charity fun walk’ is lauded for assisting needy children.

Piasau State Assemblyman, Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew in his opening speech during the event which was held at Coco Cabana Miri on Saturday night, disclosed that such fundraising event helped sending positive message to the community in order to assist those less fortunate children at PDK Morsjaya and PDK Batu Niah.

The event was meant to help raise fund for the community-based rehabilitation (PDK) Morsjaya and PDK Batu Niah.

More than 200 people were present at the event, including Miri Fire and Rescue Services Department (Bomba) chief, Supt Law Poh Kiong, Lion Club of Batu Niah president Alan Yong, and the event’s organising chairlady, Alice Yong.

In another note, Ting said, such event also helped in promoting unity among various races, as the people attending the event were not just the Chinese but other community members as well.

After officiating at the event, Ting led the crowds for the charity fun, which covered a 1.5km walk.

The walk started around 7.45pm.

A colouring contest was also held.
