KUCHING:  Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas is happy with the high level of compliance with the standard operating procedures (SOPs)at Aeon Mall Kuching Central.

He stated this after inspecting the implementation of COVIDTrace app at the mall on Sunday (Jun 28).

“We can see that the COVIDTrace app is implemented in all the outlets here. This means that the compliance rate is high,” added Uggah who is also State Disaster Management Committee chairman.

He said he was also pleased to see almost all of the visitors wore face masks during their trips to the mall.

He commended the people for their initiative to wear face masks although they were not mandatory.

“Earlier at a fitness centre here, I noticed that it was selling face masks to customers who were not wearing them.

“I advise all managements to sell face masks to those who had forgotten to wear face masks,” he added.

Uggah pointed out that face masks had helped to prevent the spread of Covid-19 besides protecting the wearers and members of the public.

While speaking to reporters after his inspection, the deputy chief minister also raised his concerns about the issue of social distancing among journos and lensmen.

“Please try to practise social distancing while you carry out your duties. On our part, when making a statement, we will try to speak as loud as possible.

“The information obtained can also be shared with each other. The public is looking at all of you as you are interacting with us almost every day,” he said.

Also present during the inspection were Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian and Kuching South City (MBKS) mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng.
