Sarawak recorded its highest daily positive cases with 426 new cases on Sunday, also the highest in the country, taking the state’s tally to 15,869.
The state also recorded two deaths related to the pandemic on the same day.
The previous highest figure of 407 positive cases in the state was reported on March 19.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said 33 cases were showing symptoms during the screening tests while 383 others comprised individuals who had been instructed to undergo quarantine at designated places.
“In short, 224 cases were individuals linked to active clusters, 149 were screened after having contact with positive cases, 28 detected from other screenings in health facilities, 15 from screening of symptomatic individuals, and 10 Import B cases involving individuals returning from other states,” Uggah told a daily Covid-19 press conference today.
