KUCHING: Newly appointed Deputy State Secretary (Operation) Datuk Hii Chang Kee will be looking after three units under his portfolio.
These units include the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS), Sarawak Service Modernisation Unit (SSMU) and the Sarawak Protocol, Ceremonies and Event Management Unit (UPPANS).
According to UKAS in a news report, Hii, who officially reported duty on Jan 3, had paid an official work visit to the UKAS office at Baitul Makmur I Building here yesterday.
The visit was to learn more about UKAS’s role and functions including understanding the issues and challenges faced by the unit towards becoming a catalyst for public communication and the main official media in Sarawak.
Hii’s presence at UKAS was welcomed by UKAS acting director Samuel Simon and other top management officers.
Immediately upon his arrival, he was briefed on the operation of UKAS and also had the opportunity to inspect the conditions of UKAS offices and its news studio.
