KUCHING: Harakah Islamiah (HIKMAH) denies complaints and rumours that associate HIKMAH with foreign beliefs such as Wahhabism.
In stating this, its president Tan Sri Datuk Amar Abdul Aziz Husain asserts that HIKMAH adheres to the understanding of ‘Ahli Sunnah wal Jamaah’ and wants the Muslim community in Sarawak in particular to adhere to a simple Islamic understanding.
Therefore, he added that any attempt to spread and apply Wahhabism beliefs or trends through activities, programmes, classes and lectures organised by HIKMAH (if any) is completely inconsistent with the objectives of HIKMAH in streamlining guidance towards the true understanding of knowing Islam as an ‘ad-deen’ to the Muslim and non-Muslim community.
“Any individual associated with such behavior is not representative of HIMAH,” he stressed.
Following this, in an effort to realise HIKMAH’s vision, he called on all parties to respect each other and be sensitive in matters that can weaken the unity of the ummah.
